  • The symposium will take place from September 16-19 in Nijmegen, The Netherlands. At Lindenberg Cultuurhuis, Ridderstraat 23.

  • To ensure a high-quality and focused experience, we are prioritizing attendees who are actively working in or with food forestry—whether through research, project implementation, or practical experience. When you buy your tickets, we ask you to provide us with information about your agroforestry experience and/or projects.

  • The symposium will focus on food forestry, including topics like:

    • Perennial crops and sustainable diets

    • Carbon sequestration and climate change mitigation

    • Food forest design and regenerative systems

    • Soil health, water management, and biodiversity

    • Global collaboration for resilient food systems

  • Yes! In addition to keynotes, we will have multiple engagement-driven knowledge sessions, not to mention a whole day dedicated to food forest field excursions. This will provide real-world examples and allow you to directly engage with the topics discussed.

  • On September 18, we’ll visit inspiring food forests in the Netherlands, at which you can experience food forest garden models in practice. 14 projects have been selected across the Netherlands, participants will be split in eight groups, which enables each group to visit two different sites. The selected projects vary from decade old forests to newly planted plots.

  • Certainly! We’ll host a one-of-a-kind dinner featuring culinary creations by De Nieuwe Winkel, primarily made with perennial plants. It’s a unique chance to experience the potential of botanical gastronomy. Limited seats are available, so be sure to register early!

  • This edition of the symposium will be in-person only. However, when buying an online ticket you can join keynote and learning sessions throughout the week. With a ticket you have access to all (recorded) sessions after the event.

  • For our international guests, we recommend booking flights to Schiphol Airport, which is well-connected to major cities worldwide. There is a direct train from Schiphol Airport to Nijmegen Central. If you need assistance with travel planning, please don’t hesitate to contact us at iffg@voedselbosbouw.org

  • Bring your curiosity and a passion for sustainable food systems! We also recommend comfortable clothing and shoes for the field excursion, as some of the activities will take place outdoors.
